ABOUT

Frances Henderson the artist

Frances Henderson is an accomplished Australian artist, writer and educator with more than 50 years of experience in the arts.

Frances was born in San Francisco in the late 40s where she was raised and later educated at the San Francisco Art Institute in 1975 and then the Museum Art School at Reed College in 1978.

In the early 80s, Frances relocated to Australia and completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an Honours in Sculpture at the University of New South Wales in 1987. A decade later, Frances completed a Diploma of Education at the University of Newcastle which sparked a 20-year teaching career, where she held a senior position in the Visual Arts team at Lisarow High School on the Central Coast of NSW.

Frances has showcased her artwork at several local, national and international exhibits including Gosford Regional Gallery on the Central Coast, The Arts Council NSW, Glebe Textile Museum, Ivan Dougherty Gallery, and Gallery in the Round, UNSW — all in Sydney Australia, and Fine Art Gallery in Palm Springs, California, USA.

Frances has also won several government grants and designed for the Festival of Sydney, Hogarth Gallery, and Bernard Young Design Group.

Today, Frances continues to produce drawings in her seaside studio in Terrigal on the Central Coast of NSW. Her works are inspired by nature — its wild and raw beauty — and her immediate surroundings. If you’re local to the Central Coast or Sydney, you may recognise scenes from her works.

Each drawing is one-of-a-kind and available framed or unframed. We offer free Australia-wide shipping and international shipping on request. We hope you enjoy the art.
